New IT Intelligence Solutions from Centrix Software Help Organizations Evaluate Virtualization Strategies

Las Vegas, NV – 8th February 2010 - Centrix Software, a provider of solutions that optimize the way IT infrastructures deliver applications, services and content, today announced the availability of two IT intelligence solutions, Centrix WorkSpace iQ and Centrix WorkSpace Discovery, as part of its Centrix WorkSpace Suite. The new products provide in-depth data on organizations’ application and desktop environments to help them build business case and feasibility studies for strategic transformation projects such as virtualization.

The new solutions include:

WorkSpace Discovery, a free desktop audit package that helps companies identify installed applications and hardware and understand how they are being used. Discovery also provides organizations with the intelligence to develop the case for investment around desktop and application virtualization, as well as suggesting opportunities to rationalize software licensing costs.

WorkSpace iQ, which provides enterprise-wide monitoring and metering of application access and consumption as well as assessment and asset discovery. WorkSpace iQ enables better strategic planning and decision-making around implementations of virtualization at the server, application and desktop level, as well as supporting reporting on application usage and charge-back / billing for IT services.

“IT is affected by huge and often conflicting pressures - how to save on costs, how to improve efficiency for employees, and when to invest in new technologies or changes in strategy,” said Lisa Hammond, CEO of Centrix Software. “However, organizations often don’t have the complete picture of how IT is currently performing, and how existing assets are being used over time. Centrix WorkSpace iQ and Discovery provide this application intelligence data, helping organizations to understand how IT services are being used, where greater efficiencies can be achieved and how IT can ultimately support business objectives more effectively.”

The new solutions are part of Centrix WorkSpace Suite, which also includes Centrix WorkSpace Universal, a browser-based application access and delivery platform. When used in combination the three linked products make it easier for organizations to plan, consolidate and meter applications deployed across disparate physical, virtual and Web application environments.

Lewis Gee, Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing at Centrix Software, said, “With our intelligence solutions, we want to help organizations understand how their applications and desktops are being used at the moment, and where there are opportunities for them to reduce costs and free up budget. The reporting capabilities provided by WorkSpace Discovery and WorkSpace iQ help IT managers to see exactly where goals are being met and where there is room for improvement, either through virtualizing applications or by cutting the number of licenses that the business holds, or indeed both.”

“Large scale IT projects such as desktop virtualization can struggle to get off the ground, as the 'one size fits all' approach just doesn't fulfill the requirements that enterprise organizations have,” commented Roy Illsley, Senior Analyst at Ovum. “Tools like Centrix Software's WorkSpace iQ and WorkSpace Discovery will help kick start understanding and adoption of desktop virtualization, as they can provide the information needed to fill the gaps that currently exist with knowing what you have, who uses it, and categorizing the users. This level of detail helps understanding what technology best meets the different needs that users have across the business."

The Centrix WorkSpace Suite provides information on IT asset use from across an enterprise’s entire IT infrastructure, from virtualized platforms from Citrix, Microsoft and VMware through to physical machines, server-based computing workloads and web-based services. Centrix WorkSpace Discovery is available for customers and partners as a free download from www.centrixsoftware.com/workspacediscovery. Centrix WorkSpace iQ is priced at £89/$145 per user and Centrix WorkSpace Suite is priced at £179/$290 per user. For more information please visit www.centrixsoftware.com.
